1) Visitors, Tourist and Transit Visas
A.Valid passport (at least 6 months to expiration).
B.One recent passport photograph showing full-face with white background.
C.A copy of round-trip ticket (For non-Nigerians).
D.Letter of invitation accepting immigration responsibility or evidence of financial support while in Nigeria from individual Nigerians or Nigerian organizations.
E.Applicants for transit visas must submit copies of their onward tickets and visas to their destinations.
F.Children must submit copies of their birth certificates showing names of their parents.
G.Children of Nigerian parents must submit copies of the information page of both parents’ passport, and letter of consent from both parents.
H.Tourist must submit copies of their certified hotel reservation statements.
I. Resident aliens inviting friends must submit copies of their resident permits and the information page of their passports.
J. Aliens married to Nigerians or invited by Nigerians must submit copies of their hosts' or spouses' passports and letters accepting responsibility.
K.Processing Fee of $20.00 in money order.

2) Business /Education/ Religious visas
A. Valid passport (at least 6 months to expiration)
B. One recent passport photograph showing full-face with white background.
C. A copy of round-trip ticket
D. If going for business, letters of invitation from companies or business organizations stating the reason must be submitted
E. If going for religious purpose, approval from the ministry of internal affairs, Abuja, Nigeria must be submitted.
F. If going for educational visit, a letter of invitation from the host university of school stating its purpose must be submitted
G. If a student, you must submit a copy of your identification card, with an accompanying letter from your institution.
H. Processing Fee of $20.00 in money order

3) Temporary work Permit (TWP)
A. A valid passport (at least 6 months to expiration)
B. One recent passport photograph showing full-face with white background.
C. Approval from Nigeria for temporary work permit.
D. Processing Fee of $20.00 in money order.
E. Please visit the Nigerian Immigration Service website at www.immigration.gov.ng for payments online.
4) Subject to regularization (STR)
A. Valid passport (at least 6 months to expiration)
B. Completed application forms in quadruplicate
C. Four recent passport photographs showing full face with white background.
D. Four certified copies of expatriate quota approval from Nigeria or approval from Nigeria for STR
E. Four certified copies of all credentials, résumé’s and certificates, were applicable.
F. Four copies of Letters of employment
G. Four copies of Letters of acceptance
H. All of the above should be submitted in four sets, not separately.
I. Processing Fee of $20.00 in money order.

REQUIREMENTS FOR REISSUANCE OF NEW PASSPORTS
GENERAL:
Applicants for Nigerian passports are those whose passports are more than 10 years and new applications. If your passport is between 5 and 10 years, your passport has to be renewed.
1. Passport application form (new passport (reissue) form) must be properly and correctly completed in the applicant's own handwriting.
2. Signatures or thumbprint must be properly completed WITHIN the box provided on the application form, i.e. limiting the signature to within the box. The signature or thumbprint must be properly completed only by the applicant and not by ANY OTHER PERSON. Also, DO NOT sign and put your thumbprint, do either the signature or the thumbprint.

4. 2 (two) recent passport size photographs showing full face, with high resolution and white background.
5. The old passport must be turned in along with the application
6. All professions and change of name (married/divorced women only) must be supported with appropriate documents. Other individuals who would like to change their name(s) must submit a copy of a publication of change of name in any Nigeria-based daily Newspaper or from a court in Nigeria.
7. The applicant’s contact telephone number should be provided
8. Re-issuance of passports may be delayed if application forms are not properly and correctly completed
9. Children of Nigerian parents (under 16yrs) wishing to apply for Nigerian passports should, in addition to the above, enclose a copy of the child’s birth certificate, letter of consent from both parents, copy of parent’s passport, information page only. In the case where one of the parents is non-Nigerian, a copy of a photo Id will be sufficient.
10. Children of Nigerian parents (above 16yrs) wishing to apply for a Nigerian passport should, in addition to the above enclose a copy of their birth certificate, and copy of one of their parents Nigerian passport, information page only.
11. Mail to: Embassy of Nigeria, 3519 International Court, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008. Attention: Passport office.
12. We recommend the package to be mailed with any form of express service.
13. Also enclose a return prepaid express envelope e.g. FedEx, UPS, USPS for you passport to be mailed back. DO NOT ENCLOSE A STAMPED ENVELOPE; this will not be accepted and your passportwill not be mailed back.
14. The turn around time for a new Nigerian Passport is 2-3 weeks. During the months of October, November, and December; Christmas period, it could take as long as 5-6 weeks. Please apply early.

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMERGENCY TRAVEL CERTIFICATE
1. Police Report
2. Copy of Air Ticket or itinerary
3. Two Passport Pictures, showing full face with white background
4. $150.00 plus $20.00 processing fee in money order
5. Proof of Nigerian citizenship.
6. Formal request in writing from applicant, which should state date of travel.
7. Enclose a return prepaid express envelope if applying by mail for us to mail your document back.
