Mali owes its name to the prestigious Empire of Mali, which, according to historians, was the most powerful state of Africa, south Sahara, in the middle ages. Mali became part of the French West Africa by the end of the 19th century. Prior to independence from France in 1960, Mali was known as the French Sudan (soudan Francais).

Diplomatic and international organization employees benefit a three(3) year multiple entry visa. 
No visa is required for ECOWAS countries' citizens, citizens from Algeria,Cameroon,Andorra,Monaco,Chad, Gambia,Morocco, Mauritania,and Tunisia( a valid identity card or passport are accept 

 Required documents
 For  Tourist, Transit visa 
 A valid passport 
 Two (2) recent passport size photographs (Please glue them on the application forms)
 Two (2) completed application forms
 A copy of an airline itinerary or a flight ticket
  A copy of the yellow fever certificate 
 Applicants for a transit visa must submit copies of their onward tickets and visas to their destinations.
 Tourists must submit copies of their hotel reservation
 The appropriate fee 
   
  For Business visa
   
  A valid Passport 
 Two (2) recent passport size photographs (Please glue them on the application forms)
 Two (2) completed application forms
 A company cover letter with the purpose of the trip
 A copy of the  yellow fever certificate and a copy of the  hotel reservation
